Desaru Coast Announces Updates Of The 3-Phased Premium Integrated Destination Resort Development

Following the successful launch of The Els Club Desaru Coast – The Ocean in September, Desaru Coast shares next steps to the development at ITB Asia 2016

Malaysia’s premium integrated destination resort, Desaru Coast, a three-phased development is opening in stages from September 2016, starting with The Els Club Desaru Coast – The Ocean, a 27-hole course designed by Ernie Els, followed by the remaining components through to 2019. Following the recent successful launch of The Ocean, Desaru Coast has also announced the new addition of Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast. The next opening will be The Els Club Desaru Coast – The Valley, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Vijay Singh, slated to open in early 2017.

The Desaru Coast development includes a unique blend of globally renowned hotels and resorts, a conference centre, a 27-hole and 18-hole golf course, a themed water park and a retail village. Developed by Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels (TAR&H), the development spans over 3,900 acres along a pristine 17km beachfront facing the South China Sea.

Desaru Coast’s wide range of offerings have been built in mind with a goal of providing something for everyone – from families with children to couples, golfers and those in the corporate segments.

The development of the destination will be rolled out in three phases. Phase 1 consists of the following, covering 1,900 acres of the 3,900 acres plot:

  • The Westin Desaru Resort
  • Anantara Desaru Resort
  • Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast

Golf Courses:

  • The Els Club Desaru Coast – The Ocean (27 holes)
  • The Els Club Desaru Coast – The Valley (18 holes)

Entertainment, Retail and Dining:

  • Retail Village: A 23-acre waterfront landscaped retail and lifestyle village in the heart of Desaru Coast.
  • Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park: Featuring one of the world’s largest wave pools, the water park is suitable for families and thrill seekers.

Conference Centre:

  • Desaru Coast Conference Centre: A fully-equipped multipurpose venue that can host up to 1,000 participants .


  • Course Residences: A resort lifestyle residences developed by Malaysia’s flagship developer, UEM Sunrise Berhad.
