School Programmes

Being an explorer isn't just about wearing a cool hat - it's about discovering what we're really good at! Under the Desaru Coast Schools Programme, we are always getting our hands busy, our minds moving, and our feet wet!

Grass

Safety first, splash second!

The ocean is like a giant playground, but we have to know the rules to stay safe. My little brother Adli spends a lot of time splashing and dashing by the sea, so he learned all his kicks and strokes! He wants to be as strong and confident in the water as he is on land.

We also learned that knowing how to swim is like having a superpower in real life! It's about being ready for anything — like helping a friend who's in trouble or even looking out for our neighbours if there's a flood. We even have 4 students who became Level-1 Lifeguards! How cool is that? Our growing crew: 90 strong swimmers from 9 schools were trained in 2024, and in 2025, 72 more students from 18 schools jumped in with us!Pin

The magic of making things

We get to try different ways to be creative while learning a cool new thing or two! In 2024, we became 'eco-artists'! We took unwanted waste like wires and broken gadgets and turned them into 5 amazing sculptures. Instead of going to a landfill, the 'trash' became treasure! Now we know all about recycling and repurposing. In 2025, we went old-school! We discovered the secret of lino printing, a special way to carve designs and make beautiful prints. We learned all about the history of art while getting our hands a little bit inky! Our growing crew: We unearthed 50 creative geniuses from 10 different schools, and in 2025, 84 more creative geniuses from 21 different schools joined the fun.Pin

tiny voices, BIG stories

Sometimes, talking in front of people feels like having butterflies in your tummy. But we've been practising with famous movie producers and experts, like Lina Tan and Karina Bahrin! They became our mentors and showed us how to really express ourselves. During the workshops, we focused on learning how to listen closely and observe the world around us. We spent time in storytelling sessions, figuring out the best ways to share our thoughts clearly and bravely. In 2025, we even started inviting primary school friends, including Adli. He has so many ideas in his head that they all try to come out at once! These workshops help him organise those big ideas so others can understand them too. By the end, we put on a giant final performance with sketches and monologues. It was so exciting to show a huge audience that our voices are much bigger than we look! Our growing crew: The stage was filled with 72 brave storytellers from 6 schools in 2024, and in 2025, we welcomed 50 more brave storytellers from 8 schools to the spotlight.Pin
